JONES

Well done for choosing a song and posting your update.

Make sure you link in your previous research and survey to consider why this song will be a better choice. Why will your target audience like this?

Also consider how you are using the conventions of music videos and how you are going against some of them through your new video idea. Why is the car an unusual choice? Can you link in the conventions you have researched?

You will also need to analyse the new music lyrics, video and complete a storyboard to help you with the filming.

Change of song

I have decided to change my song, as I did some of my filming in the summer, and connecting videos from July and November/ December will be very difficult to match up on continuity. Because my original song was Riptide, this is a summer vibed song, it will be hard to make the video, and the visuals of the video match up. Because of thing, my development in the video wasn't really progressing, and the current weather is too unpredictable to go to a beach and carrying on with filming. Therefore I am changing my song.

I am changing it to a female singer, Ellie Goulding and song On My Mind.
I am having a new performer, who is going to be female, as she is easier to make plans with to get my filming complete. I am gong to do setting of woods, and also an inside setting of a white room , with lighs in the background. I am going to combine these two locations to create my video. It is going to be a performance based video of her singing.

Survey Monkey

The people that I asked to do this survey have a very varied music taste. The majority of them liked pop music and then rock and rap.
I
have also found that my audience prefers performance based videos, and therefore I am going to do a performance based video.
These are the results from my SurveyMonkey questionnaire. I asked 14 people to do my survey, and got a very varied response from all of them. I found that my target audience only occasionally  watch music videos or not often. I only had 1 person say that they watch music videos all the time or even quite often.
I also found that the people who answered my survey have a very varied music taste. The most predominant was Pop, rock and Rap. Following these came R&B, dance and alternative/ indie. As these where the favorites, I am going to pick one of these genres for my music video.
I wanted to find what people liked the best so i could base my music video on their responses. I asked what music videos that they find the most entertaining, and the most preferred was performance based videos, then narratives and concept. For my music video, I am going to do a performance based video as this came back as the most entertaining.
My next question, was what is the most important feature in a music video, and the main response was for the theme, and the setting. I am going to take this into consideration while making my music video, as these are seen as the most important features.
I also found that people are most entertained by having a variety of different locations during a music video, and there for I am going to get a variety of different locations throughout my video.
I then also wanted to know who peoples favourite artists where, their favorite music video and  why it was there favourite music video. I got a very varied response, with very current artists and videos and older artists and videos

Plumtree

Hannah, there are some nice images for your production company - I like the Monarchy image with the instruments looking like parts of a crown. Clever! Now you have to make your choice and remember to use it across all areas of your products.

Digi-pack idea

Names of production company

I want the name of my company to have association with royalty, such as monarchy, crowns, imperial etc. I am going to see which name I prefer on each logo and try a variety of logos to see which I want to use.
  • Monarchy
  • Crown productions
  • Imperial productions
  • Aristocrat productions
I want to do basic silhouettes on my logos, with an intense colour to bring attention to it.

JONES

Good work getting started with the filming Hannah. Don't forget to upload your storyboard with analysed ideas.

Also you may need to research codes and conventions of music videos. Think about how you are applying these codes and conventions in your own music video, or why you might be choosing not to stick to them.

JONES

Hannah - haven't seen any blog updates since 20th September. Please ensure your blog is up to date with your research. In particular you are missing work on the codes and conventions of music videos, and on your genre of music. Also look back at Mr Plumtree's post as there are several questions you need to be focusing on and addressing through your blog this week.

Plumtree

Hannah, well done for looking at some of the theory behind music videos - how will this affect your own production? Have you got a list of codes and conventions for your chosen artist and are you planning to conform to these or challenge them? Does your Survey feedback help you with this decision?
